Gogo and Ford offering 30 minutes of free Wi-fi to CES attendees

Free Gogo in-flight Wi-fi for CESThose flying out to LAS this coming week for CES 2012 are in luck if they’re on Delta: They’re getting access to 30 minutes of free in-flight Wi-fi from Gogo and Ford Motor Company.

This is a great marketing perk to get Ford in the hearts and minds of those converging on Las Vegas this week… With a much larger floor presence than any previous year, automotive companies are really ramping up their CES space as the intersection of automotive and consumer electronics draws ever tighter. Even today, just glancing at the CES itinerary, Nick and I both commented on the vastly increased presence of auto companies… at an electronics show.

Ford CEO Alan Mulally is one of the keynote speakers this year, and their floor space is looking massive from what we saw during construction today. They’ll have one booth in the Grand Lobby and a large booth in the North Hall of the LVCC. It’s definitely larger than it has been in previous years. Combine that with the face that they’ll be collecting email addresses for the Gogo promotion, and you have what looks to be a big marketing push into the hearts and minds of tech-minded consumers.

To earn the free Wi-fi, flyers only need to connect to the in-flight network and enter their email address to begin using the service.

At any rate, if you’re flying Delta into or out of LAS this week, enjoy your half hour of Wi-fi. Me? I flew Southwest. At least the Captain was joking around with us and was doing Arnold Schwarzenegger movie quotes during the flight. Yay?

Linc I guess I don't understand the arbitrary time limit. Does it cost them more to provide it for the whole flight?

primesuspect I would guess it's not cheap for them, so yeah.
