Good Old Games, purveyor of nothing but the finest PC games of yesteryear, has announced a new partnership with gaming juggernaut Square Enix.
The Square Enix debut on gog.com begins with a pair of Eidos Interactive titles—Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Hitman: Codename 47. Although both classics in the truest sense of the word, neither of these games have been particularity difficult to find before now. Steam versions, as well as continued retail availability, make a GoG release something of a moot point aside from the usual removal of DRM and the inclusion of the Deus Ex OST (which remains notably absent from Steam’s GotY Edition).
Putting the actual games to one side however, this move is very significant given Square Enix’s extensive gaming back catalogue—especially so with GoG promising more, as yet unnamed, releases in the coming weeks. Could we be looking at some Thief or vintage Tomb Raider perhaps? Or even updated versions of the old Final Fantasy VII and VIII PC games?
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Hitman: Codename 47 are available now from gog.com priced at $9.99 and $5.99 respectively.
