Mann vs. Machine brings co-op to Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 Mann vs. Machine details

Valve has released a new trailer for their upcoming Team Fortress 2 update, Mann vs. Machine.

The nature of the Mann vs. Machine update that valve has been teasing for the last few days, has been revealed via this epic video:

In the wake of the murders of the Mann Co. benefactors, Blutarch and Redmond Mann, their brother Gray Mann has constructed a never-ending army of robots in the guises of the nine immortal combatants, in an effort to take their father’s company, Mann Co., back from the Hale family who have run the company for three generations. The machines are not a ‘third team’ as so many theorized, at least not in the way we thought they would be. The ‘Gray Team’ is a horde of AI-controlled robots against which players can team up, in groups of up to six, to battle in an effort to protect the Mann Co. Headquarters.

The game-play will be an infinite ‘horde mode’ style cooperative game. The six players will be tasked with defending the Mann Co. facility against a group of robots who are escorting a bomb, similar to the current ‘Payload’ game style.  Each wave of robots will be more difficult than the one before, but the players can use earned credits to improve their weapons and abilities between waves.

The Mann vs. Machine update comes to Team Fortress 2 on August 15th, 2012.

Ilriyas I am greatly saddened by the fact that it is Wednesday of all days that the company I work for receives more job contracts...

BHHammy @Ilriyas - Ah, relax. STEAM and TF2 servers are going to be slammed so much launch day that it'd probably be the next day before you'd be able to play reliably anyway.

Plus, chances are they'll throw out a patch a couple of days later to fix/tweak a couple of things. This IS a pretty big shake-up to TF2's normal modus operandi. To expect it to be completely smooth sailing out of the gate is folly.

Having said that- this weekend? Oh man, this is going to be SWEET.

Howdy, Stranger!
