Mind of UPSLynx for the week of November 8th

Mind is back to business as usual this week, which means you can expect everything but the normal, as this episode contains music and singing, shotguns, rage, toast, and destruction.

On the tech side of things this week: I tried to bake a cake and I accidentally cooked my whole graphics card. Meanwhile, Icrontic visited ATI in the land that sells bagged milk, and they returned with AMD’s top sekrit plans for 2010.

For the gamers: Modern Warfare 2 was released to the sound of millions of happy console drones, but their PC counter-parts are less than impressed. Borderlands also boarded the “piss PC gamers off” train with terrible matchmaking and timeout issues at launch. It’s enough to instill some good old-fashioned rage within me.

Hit play and get to it!

Butters It's a piece of cake to bake a GPU,
    If the solder's broken.
Gotta do the cooking by the book,
Or else that card is smoking.

This will either make you rich and famous or come back to bite you in the ass in 5 years.

GnomeQueen I totally laughed out loud for a good five minutes at the song, Bobby. It came out great.

And you're totally right about the boycott thing. The only way to get through to most companies is to simply not buy the product. They're not really going to care if you buy it and then don't play it- that doesn't really harm them.

Totally agree here. I'll also add that pirating the boycotted game isn't a good way to get the message through either because 1) You still validate the publisher's opinion that even the boycotters will play the game and 2) It just encourages their desire to add lots of DRM, you know, to "enhance the purchaser's experience".

Grimnoc This may be my favorite Mind of UPSLynx evar, good job Bobby.

*Also, I request a full release of your number one hit song, "GPU Bake-off."
  11. jared
jared ding ding ding. Online petitions don't mean shit.

Now if the rest of the interwebs would realize this.

+1 for having guns in the video :D
  12. Grimnoc
Grimnoc Additionally, the complete debacle of getting Borderlands to work with Lynx and Canti made me "feel like putting a bullet between the eyes of every Panda that wouldn't screw to save its species, and opening the dump valves on oil tankers to smother all those French beaches I'll never see."

Had a feeling you'd enjoy that part.

The full version of my song is protected by the DMCA. You cannot have it. unless, of course, you install the rootkit that allows you to listen to the song once a day, thirty seconds at a time, after filling out a usage survey.

I really don't know why people still flock to online surveys.. Are the masses really that dumb? To sign so many and never achieve progress should send a clear message that the process doesn't work. No matter how behind something I am, I will never sign another petition, it's just a waste of time.

Hilarious that I still have the screencap of my anti-steam peition days. I was on dailup back then, and really hoped that I could help prevent such a service that crippled dial-up users. :rolleyes2

Oh, and Butters, I'm going to hedge my bets on the latter... Lord help me.

What's strange about it is that it wasn't an isolated case. All three of us were having the same issues, public and friend servers alike. Canti had played before without fault, but he was joining Myrmidon's game, and he had all sorts of ports forwarded to get it to work.

UPSLynx Their choice of Gamespy is confusing as it is a failure.
