Noctua has been around for ages in the PC cooling business. The Austrian company is known in hardcore system builder and PC enthusiast circles as purveyors of some of the best fans and heatsinks out there. Some of their products, such as the NH-U9B, have reached “legendary” status for being best-of-breed.
Today they announced a partnership with Rotosub to develop PC fans with active noise cancellation. The demonstrations on the Rotosub website are astounding, and the end results should vault Noctua fans to the top of the heap for PC fans, at least technology wise.
The technology has not been fully implemented in any Noctua products, but they will be demonstrating their first public performance of the new fans, based on the Noctua NF-F12, at Computex next week. Icrontic will definitely be on the scene to witness this world’s first demonstration. If this works and the fans aren’t extraordinarily expensive, this will make significant impact in the quiet PC game. Check out the Rotosub video:
