Third-party game console peripheral manufacturer Performance Designed Products (PDP) announced today that they are bringing a new line of third-party glowing game controllers for the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360. These new controllers will be dubbed their “Afterglow” product line.

PDP is going for a trippy, “radiant” aesthetic quality with clear polycarbonate plastic bodies. Underneath the clear plastic shells lies a colored circuit board adorned with glowing LEDs that can be switched on or off. The controllers are all offered in either red, green, or blue. Along with the glowing special effects, the controllers also sport “performance-enhancing elements”, which likely will be turbo switches and other additions.

Another focus that PDP is trying to fulfill with the new controllers is comfortable ergonomics. “Too often third-party controllers focus exclusively on either appearance or features,” said Gerry Block, Director of Product Development at California-based PDP, “Our goal for the AFTERGLOW™ line was to unite these two themes, creating controllers with both amazing looks as well as performance and comfort improving features.”
