Pre-E3 2013: SteelSeries introduces the H-Series gaming headsets

Electronic Entertainment Expo—the annual extravaganza in which video game companies gather at the LA Convention Center to showcase the latest and greatest in the gaming world—is just days away. Getting a jump on the hype train, SteelSeries decided to step up to the plate and introduce to the world their H-Series gaming headset. The H-series will feature three different models, ranging from high-end for consumers who have cash to burn, to a model for those on a tight gaming budget.

Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO said,

The H-Series Headset line was introduced to the competitive gaming world in early 2005 with first-to-market features like the retractable microphone system and a custome engineered soundscape that was so good that the world tagged them as the cheating headsets. Twelve years ago we believed that eSports would see incredible growth and we designed entire product lines for this emerging market. Today, we introduce this next generation of competitive players to our new H-Series and believe that the audio experience, combined with the comfort and feature, will set a new standard for today’s competitive gaming headsets

I own a pair of the SteelSeries FLUX headphones, and they are probably one of the best headsets that I ever used. The sound quality is amazing no matter what device I plug it into, noise cancellation works like a charm, and I love how portable they are as well as their very simple design.

That said, I am extremely excited to check the new H-Series at E3 on June, 11 2013. The 5Hv3 and 3Hv2 headsets will be available this summer and the 9H will be coming out this fall.

Here are the three models in the H-Series:

  • Its premium, next-generation SteelSeries audio drivers with advanced materials like a high-grade mylar film over the speaker allows the sound in the game to be heard with a level of clarity and very low distortion
  • SteelSeries’ innovative swappable cable system with in-line audio controls for use with PC, Mac®, tablets and phones

Tim I heard a while back that at E3 the re-release of Halo 2 may be announced, I am eagerly waiting for that. I was about to get Halo 2 for PC, but I held off to see what is said at E3.

jokerz4fun A lot of people put so much time and money into TV's or monitors yet they skimp out on sound. A great headset can make a world of difference.
  3. shwaip
shwaip I've never seen the point of "gaming" headsets. Buy this, stick on your headphones of choice, imo:

  6. shwaip
shwaip I have one of the not-most-recent models (before they added noise cancellation), and it seems to work just fine. Sticks great to my hd-25ii's and haven't had any complaints about the mic quality from others.
  7. shwaip
shwaip Although the cool "LEDs change colors with how much APM you have" starcraft headphones were just a good idea.
