Slappa MASK backpack holds a ton of gear

Slappa MASK backpack holds a ton of gear

This is not really a review, per se. Slappa makes backpacks and other gear, and they sent us a MASK model to check out. I wanted to see just how much gear I could cram into it.

Watch the video, and you’ll see, but I was able to get:

17″ HP EliteBook laptop, 15″ HP G62 laptop, Canon EOS30D camera body, Canon 50mm lens, Canon 70-300mm zoom lens, Canon 430EX Speedlite Flash, Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, Canon VIXIA video camera, Kodak ZI-8 video camera, a legal pad of paper, the power bricks for every device I just listed, a Canon battery charger with an extra battery, two cleaning cloth kits, a full Sunpak tripod, a pair of Sony noise-cancelling headphones, a Razer DeathAdder mouse, a Logitech wireless laptop mouse, a stack of my business cards, three ink pens, and my car keys.

I could have fit more small stuff in there, believe me. This thing is massive. Yes, it costs a bit of money, but the durability, strength, and clever use of space to maximize storage is worth every penny.

The only downside I can see is the lack of a waist strap. Not really a big deal, but there it is.

The Slappa MASK backpack is $116.99 from the SLAPPA Backpacks online store. Also, I have to let you know: I get to keep the backpack, which is good because I have come to rely on it. Thanks, Slappa!

Cliff_Forster Love the fast unpack/repack and the music selection. Nice stuff. The Slappa website does have allot of practical stuff for digital storage. The CD/DVD binders are a few dollars more than you would spend in your local FYE, but everything they make is top notch, constructed well, really designed to protect your gear for a lifetime. When you look at what you pull out of that backpack, there has to be at least a few grand worth of gear in that thing, so spending an extra 30% for a carry and storage tool that is top notch only makes good practical sense. You save one broken lens, or keep from smashing a charger it pretty much pays for itself.

QuadWhore $116.99 Is not much money at all for a quality, high feature backpack. This thing is well worth the money. I wish to buy it.

Sledgehammer70 I felt robbed paying for the $50 packpack I had that would hold just about as much stuff as the one shown here.

The cool thing this backpack has over the one I had is the removeable top piece. But $100+ for a backpack? you must be a person to use this daily to make the purchase worth it, and I love that Brian focues this reiew on people who would use it daily. Koodos!

That's a good point. Using this a backpack like this daily would be worth the hundred dollars in my opinion. Not using it frequently however would be a waste of money.

    Also, fantastic review nonetheless.

drasnor Does it have a frame? I've been looking for a school backpack that can hold textbooks and laptops that has a proper frame for ages.

primesuspect No, it doesn't have a frame.
