Starvoid takes MOBAs to the galaxy’s edge

Starvoid Release

Promising fast-paced, real time strategy action with a MOBA flavour, Zeal Game Studio’s Starvoid hit those virtual shelves on Friday.

Set in a universe embroiled in constant conflict—the player takes on the mantel of one of the many mercenary commanders battling across the galactic rim for control over the vital “starvoid” fuel source. With each commander fielding an army of robotic minions—backed up with special abilities such as gun turrets, minefields and orbital strikes—death is all but inevitable in Starvoid, but proves little more than a minor inconvenience, with players being instantly respawned and returned to the fray. Thanks to this rapid turnover of commanders, Starvoid is able to offer on-the-fly additions to matches as dropped players are replaced up to the 12 player server limit, allowing for games to continue unabated.

Sticking close to the tried and tested MOBA formula, each commander can be outfitted with a variety of upgrades unlocked through game progression, with effects ranging from new commander abilities to improved support units.

Starvoid also features three game modes for players to get to grips with; Battle, Team Death Match and Sabotage, but new players looking for a quick heads up before dropping into a match should check out game designer Rasmus Davidson’s introduction videos here.

Currently available from Amazon, Gamersgate and more besides—at a very reasonable $9.99—Starvoid has plenty of potential even for an addition to the already oversubscribed MOBA genre. Anyone interested in picking it up before September 6th should look to the Steam release which includes a giftable extra copy for you to pass on to a friend.
