The Eternity Clock trailer

The Eternity Clock trailer

BBC Worldwide has released the first gameplay trailer for Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock.

The game will be a 2.5D action platformer with lots of Doctor Who characters and monsters. The playable characters will be the Doctor and River Song, each with slightly different abilities, though both of them seem to mostly be about running and jumping around like they’re from Persia. No word yet if there will be other game modes or if there will be co-operative play. What would be ideal? Co-op Doctor Who adventure using Steamworks.

I’m not keeping my hopes up for that particular scenario however, especially since it’s disappointingly releasing for Sony systems first, with a PC version to follow later. For some reason I think of Doctor Who fans as PC gamers, not console gamers, but I have no data to support this idea.

The official synopsis is thus:

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth. Gamers must learn to master the complexities of time travel with exceptional time based game play, changes made in one time will impact another creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries.

The Eternity Clock hits shelves in March 2012.
