Verbatim enters the SSD market

Verbatim SSDThe burgeoning SSD market has gained another player. Verbatim, maker of USB flash drives, portable hard drives, and a ton of other storage media, has announced the availability of their new SSD line.

SATA III versions will have capacities of 120, 240, and 480GB with read/write speeds both in excess of 500MB/s. These drives use a SandForce 2281 controller, a proven controller in other SSD lines that provides advanced wear leveling, error correction, and garbage collection algorithms to maintain performance and reliability.

Value-priced SATA II versions will be available in capacities of 64, 128, and 256GB with read/write speeds up to 270MB/s and 225MB/s, respectively.

Verbatim’s SSDs are available as a standalone drive, but more compellingly they are also available as part of an upgrade kit which includes NTI Echo smart cloning software (makes a full duplicate of your hard drive allowing a seamless transition to the SSD), an external drive enclosure for your old hard drive, and everything you’ll need to mount the new drive in a 3.5″ bay.

All of their SSDs come with a three year warranty and offer native TRIM support on Windows 7. They’re available on Newegg now.

GHoosdum I didn't realize they were so up to date. The last Verbatim product I used was a 3.5" floppy disk.
