Apple Turns On Faster Portables

Apple Computer on Monday updated its two notebook lines, the PowerBook and the iBook, with faster PowerPC G4 processors running at 1GHz to 1.5GHz.

The model refreshes, which also include faster graphics chips on some PowerBooks, are designed to keep Apple’s portable sales singing. Nearly half of the computers Apple has sold recently have been PowerBooks or iBooks.
