Half-Life 2 Release Date?

PC-IGN reports that in an interview posted on Homelan Fed late Friday, Valve’s Gabe Newell provided a delicious hint at the status of Half-Life 2. When asked how the title is coming along, he replied, “Good. It’s in great shape. We anticipate delivering it to Vivendi in August. Make of that what you will.

While this is in line with previous reports that the game should be finished this summer, it’s the first we’ve heard a more-specific completion time. While we may not get an official, specific release date until the code is handed to Vivendi, it isn’t unreasonable to assume that the game could make a September ship date if the code is indeed complete in August. September 30, 2004, anyone?
