Iwill ZMAXdp SFF Dual Opteron Box

Iwill ZMAXdp SFF Dual Opteron Box

Hexus takes apart the Iwill ZMAXdp Dual Opteron SFF Box.

While the photographs don’t give the entire game away, the basic construction, motherboard layout and cooling system are clear to see. My personal concerns lie in routing the power cable to the port under the cooling unit, and lack of SATA, but it appears to be quite the engineering showcase. Cramming dual Opteron into such a form factor is impressive, the Opteron itself lending the largest helping hand to such a design, its thermal characteristics making it possible.

The ZMAXdp is sampling at the end of July and IWill will be showing it off at Computex soon.

Exciting Stuff!

TheBaron omg , that is the craziest heatpipe heatsink i've ever seen. i would guess that doesn't work so well, but i guess that is yet to be seen
  4. Omega65
Omega65 It's actually 2 Heatsinks, also you would have to assume that Iwill has done a little testing....
  5. TheBaron
TheBaron yeah but they're right next to each other, wouldn't that limit the effeciency of the cooling? i mean ideally i'd think you would want them to be completely seperate, else they might be feeding off the heat from each other

Omega65 Each one has it's own fan drawing air through it and I would assume the Heatpipe connecting the Fins to the CPU is the major path of heat conductivity.
