McAfee Adds Real-Time Scanning To Zap Spyware

Security software specialist McAfee Inc. has added a new module to its virus scan engine to help businesses combat the growing spyware scourge.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based McAfee (formerly Network Associates) said the new Anti-Spyware Enterprise Edition Module will plug into the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 7.1 and 8.0i to add another layer of protection against spyware, adware, dialers, keystroke loggers and password crackers.

The McAfee VirusScan Enterprise product was recently upgraded to proactively deal with worms and malware that may not yet be addressed with virus signatures.

With the new anti-spyware module, which ships in December, the company adds a real-time scanning engine to zap malicious applications, including entries in the Windows Registry and other areas where programs leave remnants.

QCH We're using it and it seems to be fairly good. Earlier versions had the ability to scan and find some spyware but couldn't really remove it and had no real way to block it.
