  1. EyesOnly
EyesOnly I've seeen sapphire's radeon x800 pro in komplett.se. Costs about 4200 SEK which is about the same as a 9800pro 256mb so it's a nice price. :)
  2. Unregistered another company avnet micro ltd claim to have the ax800 xt now in stock
  3. Unregistered Did anyone manage to get the order from Avnet Micro Ltd yet??

There website is cool but I have had no order sent to me yet.

    Any info??
  4. Unregistered I ordered a 9800xt on 16 April from them and have never received it! A search of companies house reveals they do not exist! I have lost £245 and have reported it to the police. If you have ordered from them and not recieved please email me @ edmondskje"@aol.com remove the quote marks have done it this way to avoid spam. Did you come across the website via ebay?
  5. Unregistered Just to clarify the above post refers to Avnet Micro Ltd and no other company! I have also emailed asus the manufacturer and claimed supplier about Avnet Micro Ltd. Asus said that they have received complaints before about people paying for their goods and not receiving them. Once again if you have ordered or encountered Avnet Micro Ltd please email me edmondskje"@aol.com

Never heard of Avant Micro before, new one on me.. but you had some serious bad luck.
  9. Necropolis
Necropolis There still on pre-order. And with overclockers that could mean a long time
  10. Unregistered Guys *for the uk people*

Whats the deal with UK Banks. I transfered the money to a account with they gave me. Is it possible for someone to investigate it or the bank to refund me?

    Thanks
  11. Necropolis
Necropolis You should always use credit cards when paying for stuff like this if you can. That way you can get your money back and let the credit card company go after the company/person for the cash. If you transfered it straight into their account (which I would never recommend) go to your local bank and speak to one of their customer service people. They will be able to advise you on your best course of action.

Sign up http://www.short-media.com/forum/register.php we can go into more detail then. We have alot of helpful people here :D
  12. Unregistered WARNING::::
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE

They are and have been under police investigation for a few weeks now.

Did anyone manage to get the order from Avnet Micro Ltd yet??

There website is cool but I have had no order sent to me yet.

    Any info??

Looks like I was also duped by this AVnet Micro company.

I also found them from their auction listings on eBay and ordered direct from the website. I transferred money to their account on the 13th May and despite their Kathleen Decorte having advised that the goods were shipped I have not received anything and had no reply to me last 2 emails sent yesterday and today.

I was considering my next moves - contacting eBay, contacting Asus, contacting the police etc. Any ideas?

I am really annoyed with myself for having let these people take my money as I am usually very careful with regards to buying things on the internet and this is the first time I have been caught out. I could really do without losing this amount of money right now (I paid £244 for an Asus Radeon 9800XT).

Normally I always pay by credit card or PayPal in order to have some degree of insurance. I think their scam on eBay is what makes them credible as they have apparently got lots of positive feedback.
  14. Shorty
Shorty Ive already had a few emails back and forth with someone else who has been ripped by Avnet :(

It's extremely worrying to think of just how many people must have placed orders on their website. Really worrying.

Buyer definitely beware. What's amazing is their website is still online :wtf:

So wrong. Id suggest reporting to the police as a minimum.
  15. Ronin
Ronin If there are a few people on here who are in the same position perhaps it's worth getting together in order to try and pursue some course of combined action. Has anyone started any form of action yet?
  16. Necropolis
Necropolis Does anyone have the web address to people can avoid it.
  17. Ronin
    Ronin Yes...

    Their website address is: http://www.r9800xt.com

  19. Unregistered I also paid for a radeon 9800xt via avnet micro and didn't get anything ...

In my experience that's always a good fraud indicatator. Also make sure the police have been given those bank details so that they can put a trace on the accounts; although i'd expect that they have been set up using stolen/fraudulent id's.

I have reported mine with Surry Police Crime Reporting Bureau, the Crime Reporting No. is C/04/10238.

The Police asked me to get as much additional information relating to other peoples experience as possible. Seeing as the account details that you other guys have paid into have been removed by the admins please could you email me (via my profile above) these details together with crime reporting numbers and which police station they were reported at. Thanks.

I would suggest that anyone reading this forum thread that has been a victim of this scam registers themselves here so that we can easily be in contact with each other.

  33. Unregistered Hi all

I have been on the trail of these Pirates for about 2 weeks now. Unfortunately I have only just discovered this forum!

I am simply gutted about these goings on.

I too spent £355 on an ASUS x800 xt and just like you guys, i never get a reply from them and I have never seen the goods.

    What are we gonna do??????

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Shorty Hey guys who are posting from our frontpage :)

To make things easier for our welcomed guests, Ive added a field where you can specify a nickname to tag yourself (rather than everyone just being logged as "unregistered") :)

As a site admin, Im going to construct a news article on this and tidy this up to focus more on the problem in hand AND hopefully we can attract a few more people who have had this misfortune.

The more who report this crappy and submit information to you guys and the police, the more power you have to hopefully bring this "merchants" down.
  35. Aviation Hi Dean

First thing you have to do is report this to 1/Trading Standards 2/Police. Once you have done both of them we should all get together and provide as many report numbers as possible then re-update the people you told. Maybe that way they will move quicker.

  36. Deano09
    Deano09 I hear you...

I'm not sure if that's you Kris (Aviation) but if its not then I suggest you send a brief e-mail to Kris @ the following address. I am in contact with himand he is one step ahead of the game; trying to co-ordinate all different case information.

Heres the address and good luck.

    Thanks Shorty,

Will you start a new forum thread regarding this Avnet matter and move our posts from this thread to the new one? It is much appreciated that those of us who are affected can have somewhere to discuss this and co-ordinate our actions.

Anyone reading this who has been taken in my Avnet should register with this forum and provide us with details of what happened. It is important to inform the police so that there are as many crime reports as possible. This should hopefully increase the likelihood of the police putting some efforts into tracking the guilty party down.

Dean - have you reported this to the police? Can you make sure Kris and / or I have details such as your Crime Report Number and police station at which reported. It would also be useful to have details of the bank account into which you paid the money (you can private mail this to us as I understand that posting those details on here might cause problems for the moderators). Thanks.

    Marty_McFly Hi Guys

Yep, same old story here with me as well. I got ripped of for an x800 Pro from these guys. The account I payed into was:

    Bank: HSBC
    Sort Code: 40-25-10
    Account No: *********
    Account Name: AVNET M Atkinson

I contacted Trading Standards but was told that there was nothing they could do, because I did not have an address for Avnet Micro. I'll have to try the police later.

I thought something was going on last week when I couldn't find a phone number on their website. :banghead:

Kris, if you got my mail I'd like everyones crime numbers that have been reported, just to help the police out.

Gregori - we are trying to get as much information about this scam as possible to provide to the police.

Firstly - you must report this to your local police station and get a reference number for your report. Please sent a private mail to me and to Kris (using the email links in our profiles) - we need to know full details of the Avnet bank account into which you paid the money (the Bank name, Sort Code, Account number and Account name, and the amount that you paid.

We also need the details of your police report including name and address of police station and the crime reference number that the French Police will assign to this report. If possible please also provide a name of both the policeman you speak to / or who is dealing with your case as well as any English speaking policeman at the same station if your guy does not speak English.

Do you know of anyone else affected in France? Maybe you could post on some French websites and try to find out if there are others?

    Thanks.
  45. Deano09
    Deano09 DEAR ALL

    ***********PLEASE READ**********************

(BEFORE I START, I HAVE OBTAINED A TRADING STANDARDS REF NUMBER AND I AM POSTING THESE DETAILS TO KRIS & RONIN.)

    FIRSTLY...CRIME NUMBERS!

I MADE SOME INTERESTING CALLS YESTERDAY AND HAD A LONG & IN-DEPTH CONVERSATION WITH A POLICE OFFICER WHO HEADS THE 'COMPUTER CRIME UNIT' HERE IN SCOTLAND. NOW, ALTHOUGH THEY SPECIALISE IN MORE 'SEVERELY NATURED' CRIMES THEY TOOK ALL THE INFORMATION THEY COULD FROM THIS INCIDENT AND ARE PURSUING IT FURTHER. HOWEVER, WHEN IT COMES TO 'CRIME NUMBERS', THERE SEEMS TO BE IN ISSUE WITH THE FACT THAT SEVERAL HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANNOTATED FOR THIS CASE. EVENTHOUGH DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN SEPERATE LOCATIONS HAVE REPORTED IT...IT SHOULD IN FACT BE UNDER THE SAME CRIME NUMBER. THIS THEN HELPS THE INVESTIGATION BUT ALSO DOESNT EFFECT THIER CRIME STATISTICS.

I WAS THEN ADVISED THAT IF I/YOU WERE TO WALK INTO A POLICE STATION OFF THE STREET AND PRESENT THESE FACTS TO THE FRONT DESK; THE OFFICER WOULD EITHER LOOK AT YOU IN AN ODD WAY AND NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO OR HE/SHE WOULD ISSUE A CRIME NUMBER AND THINGS MAY GET LOST. SO...

(AND THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM THE COMPUTER CRIME UNITS MOUTH) PRESENT YOUR MAIN LOCAL CONSTAB WITH THE EVIDENCE (ALL PRINT OUTS IF POSS OF E-MAILS AND; MORE IMPORTANTLY; OFFENDERS BANK DETAILS),ADVISE THE SAID POLICE OFFICER THAT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPUTER CRIME UNITS INSTRUCTIONS YOU ARE PRESENTING THESE FACTS IN ORDER THAT A TRACE CAN BE CARRIED OUT ON THE BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS SUPPLIED AND 'HOPEFULLY' THIS WILL IN TURN SECURE PERSONAL DETAILS OF THE OFFENDER(S).

WHAT WILL HAPPEN THOUGH, IS THAT (FOR EXAMPLE) IF THEY FIND THAT THE BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS YOU SUPPLY LEAD TO (EXAMPLE) A NAT-WEST ACCOUNT IN MANCHESTER, THEY WILL THEN HAVE TO PASS OVER 'ALL' HANDLING OF THE CASE TO THE RELEVENT LOCAL CONSTAB...I.E. THE GREATER MANCHESTER MET POL.

SO, AS OF YET, I HAVE NO OFFICIAL CRIME NUMBER APART FROM THOSE I HAVE QUOTED WHEN MAKING THE INITIAL REPORT. BUT THE POLICE ARE TRACKING THE LLOYDS ACCOUNT I PAID INTO AND WILL KEEP ME INFORMED PRIOR TO HANDING ALL INFO OVER TO THE RELEVANT CONSTAB. THEREFORE I PROPOSE THAT ALL INDIVIDUALS CONCERNED, POST ON THIS FORUM (WHICH MAKES IT READILY AVAILABLE TO ALL) BOTH THIER CRIME NUMBER (IF APPLICABLE) & TRADING STANDARDS REF (IF APPLICABLE). THIS CONSTANT REPORTING OF AN EVER GROWING LIST OF CRIME NUMBERS & TRADING STANDARDS REFS SHOULD THEN GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES.

    SECONDLY...TRADING STANDARDS

I SEE THAT A FEW OF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING TRADING STANDARDS TO HELP. WELL IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE BEING TOLD THAT YOUR LOCAL OFFICE CANNOT DO ANYTHING; ARE IN FACT ON THE RECEIVING END OF SOMEONE WHO JUST SIMPLY CANT BE BOTHERED. WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IS AS FOLLOWS:

THEY WILL TRY AND DO A COMPANY SEARCH FOR AVNET. BUT AS WE ALL NOW KNOW, AVNET DOES NOT EXIST. THEREFORE, THEY SHOULD ADVISE YOU TO KEEP ALL CORRESPONDENCES TO DATE AND THEN ISSUE (AND I KNOW THIS SOUNDS POINTLESS BUT IT S THE LAW/PROCEDURE) A LETTER (OR IN OUR CASE, AN E-MAIL) TO AVENT STATING THAT YOU ARE NOW 'MAKING TIME THE ESSENCE OF THE CONTRACT'. THIS IN TURN PROVIDES THE LEGAL FOUNDATIONS ON WHICH FURTHER INVESTIGATION CAN BE CARRIED OUT. I DO AGREE THAT TRADING STANDARDS ARE ON THE BACK FOOT WITH REGARDS TO THIS CASE BUT IF YOU DONT TRY THEN YOU DONT GET. I WAS THEN TOLD TO CONTACT THE SAME TRADING STANDARDS INDIVIDUAL AGAIN (MAKE SURE TO GET NAMES) WHEN THE TIME YOU DICTATE IN YOUR E-MAIL (FOR ME THIS WAS 7 DAYS) HAS EXPIRED. FROM THAT POINT, IT BECOMES OFFICIAL AND ALTHOUGH THEY MAY NOT DIRECTLY PIN POINT THE OFFENDER(S), THIS REGISTERING OF FACTS WILL ONLY AID THE POLICE/LEGAL BODIES WHEN TRYING TO 'HOPEFULLY' PROSECUTE.

    ONCE AGAIN...

PLEASE KEEP BOTH KRIS & RONIN (FROM THIS FORUM) INFORMED OF ALL DEVELOPMENTS AND INFORMATION UPDATES; AS WELL AS POSTING ALL REFERNCE NUMBERS & CRIME NUMBERS ON THIS BOARD THUS ALLOWING ALL OTHER INDIVIDUALS TO QUOTE THIS INFO WHEN GOING TO THE POLICE/TRADING STANDARDS.

I HOPE THIS HAS BEEN OF SOME HELP AND REMEMBER THAT THIS IS NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF 'ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN' BUT IS A ROUGH GUIDE...I AM SURE CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE WITH GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION.

BEST OF LUCK ALL, MY REF NUMBERS ARE BELOW.

Just to let you all know how I have employed my procedure above. Today I spoke to PC Scott Rennie at the Computer Crome Unit Scotland, he told me that the lloyds TSb Branch into I paid monies is in fact located in NEW OLLERTON, NOTINGHAMSHIRE. I then went to my local police Station and reported the crime, offering all of the info I detail above; directing the Police Officer to the Nottinghamshire Constab. The info will then be transferred over and the investigation continued.

We have a the NHTCU (National High Tech Crime Unit) but they deal with very serious computer crime e.g. Kiddie porn and such like. In my dealings with them, they dont & wont bother with this type of fraud as they have to focus their limited resources on serious crime.

Also the Met Police has its own computer crime unit but again they co-ordinate & work with NHTCU so they dont deal with this type of fraud either.

The following is copied from their (Met Police) website where by they suggest you contact your local force to report & investigate this type of fraud. However you may find (from personal experience) that your local force may not have the knowledge or expertise to know what to do with hi tech/computer/telecoms fraud, so dont expect too much & be prepaired to hold their hand & explain things in words of one syllable. Hope this helps.

They do not deal with internet auction fraud. If you been the victim of an internet action fraud you should report this to your local police.

I know this may be a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but I called the offending account holding bank today. It turns out the HSBC bank I payed my cash into was a branch in Huddersfield! I rang the branch and gave them all the account details. I made them put a note on the account saying the account may be being used for fraudulent purposes along with with my details.

Can this help in the long run, who knows... but it can't hurt. Might be worth a try.

Yes it will help, the bank, if it has good security & fraud procedures, should now flag this account as a possible fraud risk and start monitoring it closely and investigate the transactions.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear the bad news. Firstly you really need to report this to your local police and get a crime reporting ref no. Could you let Kris and myself have your details (you can send us a private mail via our forum profiles). We are compiling a list of people that have been stung so that we can hopefully get the police to follow this up. You make 10 that we are aware of so far.

Thanks for your post. I am sure that you will agree that it is better to be cautious than sorry when buying in-line and therefore any doubts expressed about the legitimacy of your offers were made in order to protect the buyer and ensure that they take adequate steps in verifying who and where they are buying from.

I personally have no reason to doubt the ligitamacy of your business, however I would offer you a well meant tip by saying you will have more credibility if you improve the spelling, navigability, and layout of your web site as well as finding a solution to the online credit card payment availability.

    Regards
  63. gloucestertraining
  64. gloucestertraining
gloucestertraining I do know about on-line payments, and spelling has all been dealt with, un fortunately, the site is correctly spelt and it is the web caches that are out of date.

Online payments are a funny thing, as this adds about 4% to a sale, and then theres other charges to add in, as the cost is around £200 per year, plus 3.25 per week plus a £1.00 per transaction and the 4%, which brings up the prices, which isnt very good when people who are local can pay the price on the site.. and we do cash/cheque on delivery, which works out at £6.00 inc. so not a bad charge to have.

But with banking charges, the cost effective, workings dont real work out well for both parties.
as with larger items, this could mean an added £360.

Ye' old way are simple, "wire" the money into the accout get the good, no charges and no "extra to pay" your happy im happy..

I am looking into site navagation, the hardware site is easy to use, and the computers are fairly straight forward, as the site offers direct search access, it is common for people to hit any page of the site with the information or goods they requier.

It been 7 years since i have worked on website, and with 6K hits in the first week t'was stupid as the site wassnt even ready, the training part has only been placed on a week ago. as you will note: the site has 3 sections and 3 looks. hardware/ software. computers, and support, consultancy, repairs..

I want to keep most of it simple and to use.

for exsample search X800xt gloucester, and you will find a link to .../today/index.html which is a page with the lastest graphics card, its not smart looking, but it give the information you need.. however, you may find a link to ../hardware/page12.html which is the hardware section. but then going onto computers, .../tec/index.html this looks different all together. but still links off to a white page with information on them, I will get around to sorting this out, but havent looked into it as im busy doing other things.

Hardware is good but not what i want to be doing, as computer support and repairs, we need to know where we can get stuff from if we have to fix things and need replacement.. as we also build computer system the parts help :) so its just a side line not really part of what we are going for as a main stead of the business.

GETTING BACK TO PAYMENTS AND BUYING

If your in doubt about a business, ask them for their registration number and or VAT number. (some business wont be VAT registired but very few are not)

go to your local trading stadards or business link, and they will be able to tell you if a business is real, if there not registired then dont buy from them. its a whoel different ball game when buying from a person, you will find info at www.dts.gov.uk, where there discription has to be correct, theres link on the ordering page of my site .

    any way back to work..

sory about the site.. its a work in progress, Ive been online for a few weeks, still working on it..
  65. Kris
Kris In reply to the above posts about Avnet Micro Ltd and its website r9800xt.com. Firstly I would like to say that I am not commenting on the gloucestertraining website.

    1) ALL UK Companies have to be registered at www.companieshouse.gov.uk before you ask "Ltd" implies they are incorporated under the Companies Act 1985 and to exist would have to be registered there!

    2) The Website now seems to have disappeared!

    3) Deano09, like the rest of us has now been made highly sensitive to the potential of being scammed and with the only payment method being bank transfer (how we were scammed!) he was just putting us on alert. Most people here are on the lookout for a new graphics card and he had people's best interests at heart. If that has offended gloucestertraining then I am sorry but you would not believe how many times I have heard from Trading Standards and The Police that the only safe way of paying is by CREDIT CARD!! The reason being the Consumer Credit Act and the protection that it affords.

For the others sorry I have not been in contact I am in the middle of my exams!!! I will be emailing you individually when I have time to update!
  66. Mark.v. It is not just the case of Avnet micro Ltd's site not being there anymore, it is the case that if you now goto Asus.co.uk a poppup appears, this now warns you about Avnet Micro Ltd being a FRAUDULANT COMPANY, its a shame this was not found out before i placed my order, also, i did not order one of the brand new cards, i only ordered an Asus V9980 Geforce FX5950 Ultra, these people are sick, and if the law allowed i would personally deal with it my way !!!

    Yes i am pissed off.
  67. gloucestertraining
gloucestertraining A credit card payment is not secure.,
    here is the reasons.
first off the website. it is easy to script in the "seruce connection" pad lock.

it take less than 2 minutes to decyphert 128 bit encription.

I could have easly said or placed a page on my site to take credit card details looking like a "real secure payment site" when if fact you would have sent your details.

But instead of doing that, where i could have taken the payments, Im honest so i didnt.

your card is ONLY protected to either a limit OR not covered, you will have to check with your bank for details on cover against fraud when buying on the interenet. (very few cards do so)
this must really make you want to buy on line after reading this.. i think not!

I did offer payment by paypal and cheque, not just a direct payment option.

Yes ltd company have to registir, but other companys dont.
the reason for this is that a limited company is required to have a secertary, and the business can only be sued to the value of the company, giving personal protection to thoses who own and run it. if they go bust or declair bankruptcy, thats it you can get nothing. (i think thats what happend to power house customers when they went under, even thought they were taking money that day and not sendding out goods.. AKA ripping people off)

    Deano09 Please tell me...

When is this guy from GLOUSCESTERTRAINING going to drop it & let it go?

IF WE WANT TO BUY FROM YOU, IN THE MANNER YOU PRESCRIBE, THEN I'M SURE THOSE BIG ENOUGH & BOLD ENOUGH WILL DO SO...

Stop sending me e-mails about the credibility of your business.

Its as if you're trying to prove something here?

"We all believe that you are genuine...and wish you well in your business"

However, after 3 e-mails telling me how 'your bank' messed things up also followed by a continuous effort to promote direct transfer payment; I have arrived at the conclusion that (for security reasons) I will not be using your services.

I’m confident that you will amend the payment situation and sort out the ‘issues’ you currently have with the bank. As a recommendation though; don’t divulge your current banking issues with potential customers…it puts them off!

Fianlly, I am far from being a 'Time Waster', or as you put it "a waste people time"...

I simply have hard earned money which I'm trying to spend in the most secure and beneficial way. So ditch the attitude of 'suing for slander' & 'taking liable action' and concentrate your efforts on matters that are far more important.

    Good Luck

Hi with regards to a credit card payment not being secure you may well be right but in the situation of a company going bust or failing to deliver a person paying by credit card has a claim against the company and the credit card issuer. Yes, you are right there are limits anything between £100-£30,000, which I think will cover most things! These limits are not set by an individual bank and apply only to credit cards BUT THEY DO APPLY TO ALL. If you still have any doubts look up s.75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 or this link to the FSA http://www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/financial_planning/credit_debt/mn_protection.html

If the Powerhouse customers had paid by credit card they could have their money back or would have had their goods delivered. This happened to relatives of my years ago and they received their money. I imagine it works by the Credit Card company giving you your money and you subrogating your rights against the company concerned.

As for credit card fraud online, I have bought in excess of 50 items online via a secure payment and have never had an issue (touch wood), the one time I paid by bank transfer I lost all my money that in itself should tell you! I have pre-ordered my card from Chillblast, they may be more expensive but their customers say they are good and that's all that matters now!

As for "limited company" yes they do have to register the only other company is a company limited by guarantee everyone else is either a soletrader or partnership! The point was Avnet Micro LTD implies they are a limited company and should be registered, as they are not registered they are not a legitimate company!

jimcooke i have been ripped off as well by Avnet, i am annoyed at myself for being so careless as I am usually very careful with regards to bying online but I was caught out by the positive feedback on ebay. I have been to the police and they said they would look into it but as I was only 1 customer affected they said it was likely I would lose my money as their telecommunications fraud department would only be able track down major internet fraud that was proved to be deception. I will now go back to the police to see what they have to say. If anyone has got any more details can you email me on jamescooke.nospam@blueyonder.co.uk(without the .nospam). TIA

Sorry to hear you bad luck.. yet another.

I would suggest scanning this thread for the other email addys of the various other members and guests who have posted and been defrauded.

They have a crime number... and more information than anyone :)

Plus, its worth noting that ASUS in the UK have publicly disowned the two websites in question that were offering this product. Id suggest talking to them as well and getting more feedback :)

    Hope we can help :)

I have changed your email address so you dont get the hell spammed out of your account :ukflag:
  74. gloucestertraining
    gloucestertraining OK point taken,

avent micros, was a site trying to take business from advent mircos, if i remeber correcty, but this was years ago.

its hard to find info, on companies. I bought off a company i never head of, but they had a forum so i founf the email address of one of the people and contacted them about the company just to check there "real".

but someone said, that ebay reviews or feedback was good...

how hard is it to set up accounts in different names and then fake it? not hard enought! its like forums, they can be faked as well, so your still none the wiser..

and deno09, when you going to drop it, i have been getting mail form you for some time, so why the hell would i keep sending you emails, get a life! I only reply to the mails you have sent! the fact that i do say about the bank issues, etc, shows some call for honesty on my part.

    AS for card protection..
There is a bankers code of conduct, made by the banker guild or what ever, but its not a law or anything they have to stand by. I was talking to a lawer about it the other week because of my bank issue, and he said that they can do what they want.

Just so you know, cheques can be returned upto 6 months after sending them, so you can get your money back if you had paid by cheque instead of direct transfer, but there must be some form of protection, even if it was by diret debit which is fully covered.
when you get down to it, if there money to be made there is always a scam.

with the amount of foreign people in the UK, they have been ripping off people for years in there country using methords we havent really seen here, look for odd names and accents when phoning them.. not say that a mark jones@buyfrome.com, is a real person or company, but public mail address should be checked. like yahoo, freeserver etc. and not used to make purchases. (BIG WARNING!) I have found that there using email companies all over the world to make the mail seam genuine, so have a look and search the net for the mail address's in name, if they give an address also search that, with "address" (speachmarks) as this will give you an exsact match and hope fully give that information which will confirm weather they are a good or bad company.

Fake it yourself, call them saying your a sales man from GCS selling the items you want to buy, if they say they dont buy them ..... then there a scam. stuff like that. I get a few scammers with there URL's and matching email address.

    As i have said.

The company may well be giveing you the cards, as there not in the UK till the 29Th, then they may send it. and the same goes for the 6800 ultras and GT

you will have to wait and see.

    Semple1 Hello.

    Has anyone had any luck?

    I have been done too.

    On 4th May I ordered the following item;

    Item Name: ASUS RADEON 9800XT.
    Price: £264.00 (inc P&P).

    On 17th May I ordered the following item;

    Item Name: ASUS RADEON X800XT
    Price: £355.00 (inc P&P).

    Bank details are (for both):

    Cahoot bank (Abbey National)
    09-06-40
    1******8
    AVNET A Walker

    Total Fraud Amount: £619.00.

I also discovered that their website has been taken down.
I emailed the web host and they informed me that a stolen
credit card had been used to pay for the web hosting!

I came across the website via Ebay too. Have you got an
    URL of their listings/username?
  76. Shorty
    Shorty £619.00 :( Oh jeeeeez .. that's harsh... really harsh. :(

To my knowledge, none of the posters here have yet to have any real luck getting any money back.

One of our members, Kris (who has posted in this thread countless times) has been communicating as many reports as possible, in the hopes of more investigation.. his email address has been published here several times:

    edmondskje AT aol dot com

    Hope it helps :)
  77. Semple1
Semple1 I have already paid a visit at the police.

I was trying to get the money back through my bank but they no longer want to
know since a bill payment is trusted as once sent it can't be amended.

I will need to visit the Police again to explain the new situation and obtain relevant
crime codes. I am glad that I'm not alone on this one.

Did you notice on Ebay listings a postcode of BT7 3AE? Perhaps we could
    use this to our advantage?

I have emailed some of the Ebay accounts on his feedback. However, some are
coming back with bounced emails. It looks like fake ebay accounts may have
been created to give the main seller positive fake feedback, thus fooling us that
he is genuine and then us getting conned by paying him! Ah!

    Regards,

    Chris.
