Windows XP 64-bit Extended Edition will be sold in OEM form only

Microsoft is reporting that it will not allow consumers to purchase Windows XP 64-bit Extended Edition as a standalone product, rather it must be purchased in OEM form only.

Although OEM copies of Windows XP are slightly cheaper than the retail editions available at most outlets (no fancy packaging or manual) they are not so popular for the less tech-savvy individuals who want simply to put the cd or dvd in the drive, click yes and then have the shiny new product install itself.

19 Jun 2004 ~ 4:19am EyesOnly When i upgrade my cpu, at least a year from now i hope , i'll be getting 64bit though i don't know which socket but i'll need hardware anyway. In other words no problems here.
