SP2 RC2 has DX9.0d so I'd expect nothing less from the final release.
  4. BlackHawk
    BlackHawk dxdiag displays DirectX 9c.

Shorty Thanks for clearing that up guys, I couldn't find a reference on the M$ site to say yay or nay :)

Well..., I wish I had RC2 installed again so I can show you but I don't so you'll just have to take my word for it, it was DX9.0d w/o a doubt.
  9. EQuito
EQuito ok, I was wrong and I must apologized. It seems like nVmixer reports the wrong version:

Justin So it will be OK to intstall on just my main rig and the other PC it is networked to right?
  11. Gobbles
Gobbles ive installed it right over the top of sp 2rc2 with out any issues yet however my laptop is uber stable and handles most things I toss at it with out issues.

  12. muddocktor
muddocktor Well, I downloaded it today here on the rig, but I'm not going to install it until I'm off from work in 2 weeks. I can't take the chance of it borking my machine up while at work, since I don't have my XP disk with me here on the rig.

At least I have the whole file, so I won't have to worry about online updates and using up the FAP on my home sat link when updating my XP machines.

Riddick i noticed that in SP2 you are not able to choose whether you would want to archive old files or not..unlike in SP1. right now it just asks you straightaway where u want to put backup files and this makes the installation significantly longer. is there a way to change this?
  15. Gobbles
Gobbles nope. unless you can do it through command line flags...

Just go in after and delete the back ups. And yes it adds an ass load to the install time.

  16. Mohawk
Mohawk has anyone had any problems with sp2 yet?
  17. Justin
Justin I am wondering the same thing... I want to get it installed but I am hesitant as I don't want to be the lead ginny pig. (I know that is not how you spell Guinea, but it looks right...)
  18. Shorty
Shorty Ive installed it at home and on my test PC @ work :)

    So far so good.

Interesting thing to note. The security center does not bug you when you are running in a Windows domain. It's default behavior is to leave you alone except for firewall prompts.

On a normal standalone machine, it still has an annoying system tray icon until you play around with it to leave you alone.

Im going to see how it goes before making my final judgement. I stand by what I said yesterday on short thought...

Needs more flexible install for admins and more helpful information for non technical end users.
  19. BlackHawk
BlackHawk The only thing I don't like that I've noticed is the maximum connection limit thing.

    Oh oh oh??? Whats that?!?!?
  21. BlackHawk
BlackHawk Can't find an explanation but it's some thing they implemented that limits half open connections to reduce the spread of virus like beagle or sasser. The thing is that it limits the funcionality of some p2p programs and if you just like to browse a dozen sites at the same time. :D When it reaches max connections, you get an event log error. There seems to be a fix. Link
