Intel will release the Xeon MP7000 based on Paxville and Xeon DP5000 based on Dempsey.

Intel server-use dual-core Itanium 2 and Xeon processors, including the Montecito Itanium 2, Xeon MP and Xeon DP, are expected to begin hitting the market in the third quarter of this year. The Montecito chip will be unveiled as the Intel Itanium 2 9000 series, and the Xeon chips will include the Xeon MP7000 series based on the MP Paxville, and the Xeon DP5000 based on the DP Dempsey

    kanezfan didn't they kill the itanium? or was that not the name of their first 64-bit chip?

    mmonnin They dropped a P4 core, the one that was suppoed to up the core clock a lot but I havent heard about totally dropping the Itanium. More like using x86 in the Itanium.

    The Itanium has been 64-bit for awhile I think, before the Opteron, but its not the same class as anything AMD makes.
