Nintendo and McDonalds to offer free Wi-Fi

IGN is reporting that Nintendo, Wayport and McDonalds will today announce free WiFi for DS owners at McDonalds resteraunts across America.

The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection marks the company’s entry into the online arena. The service is dramatically different from competitors because it is entirely free to consumers who already have wireless Internet access at home, as opposed to Xbox Live, which functions on a subscription model.

The Wayport deal will make playing DS games online at McDonald’s a relative breeze, according to Nintendo. When users want to play an online DS game at a Wayport-equipped McDonald’s, they simply launch the title in Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection mode and they’re good to go. There is no further setup required and no fees whatsoever.

19 Oct 2005 ~ 12:11am CB It wouldn't make me eat any more crap than Ialready do, but if I had a DS, I'd be more likely to eat that crap from McD instead of Taco Bell.

Really, that's all it's about to the McD execs. They don't want to make you fat, they just would rather you got fat at their store instead of some one else's.

20 Oct 2005 ~ 6:52pm Mizugori i kind of agree though, somewhere along the line this country needs to get a handle on its fatass problem. its embarassing. and everytime you try to talk about it, someone pipes up and says how "well im not fat because im a lazy sack o' crap, i have a thyroid problem" or "its not my fault i just eat when im depressed and my life sucks so its justified" etc. etc. etc.

im not heartless and i understand there are some medical cases where its truly out of the person's control. but 99% of it is just that people need to stop eating and start exercising. and the best way to get them to do that is if they learn these kinds of habits while they're young... playing DS at mcdonalds is just the icing i know but every bit counts. i remember when i was a kid (which was not that damn long ago) my mom would tell me to get off the damn nintendo after an hour or two. and go outside or something. i hated her for it then but now i see the wisdom...i played outside a lot as a result and im not a fatass. maybe people need to go back to doing this, instead of giving in to the kids bc they don't feel like listening to whining anymore.

9 Nov 2005 ~ 7:21pm airbornflght he hehe heh...will these wifi connecitons be secure or not...cause they are just gonna be using a wireless router most likely and andy will be taking himself to mcdonalds everyday with his laptop. dont know why, but its kinda cool i can get internet at walmart and mcdonalds. (mcdonalds is in walmart)
