It’s not every day that Ars Technica reviews a .1 update to an application. In the case of Aperture, they thought it was important, and the reasons should be obvious: by all accounts, the Aperture 1.0 launch bombed.
A few loud defenders held their position that Aperture’s faults were minor compared to its benefits and its price tag was small for professional photographers, who sneeze 500-dollar bills. I wasn’t so convinced. The whole premise of Aperture is that it is to be the hub of downloading, sorting, tagging, rating, commenting, and processing images for output and no amount of PR spin could hide the fact that Aperture failed at being a professional-level RAW processor.
Does version 1.1 fix the many flaws of the initial release?
