Asus Release Motherboards That Support Core 2 , DDR2-800

ASUS has recently introduced some of the first non-Intel motherboards based on the Core 2 processor.

The new P5W DH Deluxe is one of them. The board is based on the upgraded 975X and ICH7R chipsets, which are necessary to use Core 2 CPUs. They are also introducing the P5B Deluxe, which uses P965 and ICH8-R. The only significant difference between the two boards, is that it supports DDR2-800, one of the first for the 775 Socket

Both feature dual gigabit LAN and wireless LAN, and overall have all the features you’d expect to see from a top-tier ASUS board, such as SATA RAID 0/1/5 support, multiple SATA controllers, et cetera. Overall, they look like interesting boards, and it will be very cool to see how Core 2 CPUs interact with DDR2-800 RAM.

drasnor Wasn't the P5B a K6 or Pentium board? Maybe I'm just imagining things...

rapture Damn, do I build a 830D system now in anticipation?

They're really nicely priced at the moment.
