Lite-On Jumps to Blu-ray

Lite-On one of the world’s largest optical disk firms announced it will be releasing Blu-ray disc drives in the UK this August.

The firm said production kicks off this summer, with its first drive, the LH-2B1S, set to arrive in the UK in August 2006. The drive will be backwards compatible with DVD+/_R(W) media and CD-R(W) media.

Lite-On reckons it can stuff 50GB of data on a double-layer disc or 25GB on a single layer Blu-ray disc.

It looks like Blu-ray fever has stuck.

airbornflght Figured this would happen. Looks like M$ might be screwed with the X360 with only a DVD drive. although they said they were gonna upgrade to DVD hd, but looks like Blu-Ray is gonna win.
