Microsoft “Argo” Media Player

Microsoft “Argo” Media Player

Rumor has it that Microsoft has a product code named “Argo” That will sweep the world and hit Apples Ipod in the face. Microsoft has not confirmed nor have they denied the new media player, but we know one thing the rumored media player has a ton of people excited.

The “Argo” is a device that plays the media; a software media player and an online media service for all of you DRM-infected media file requirements. It is also rumored to have built in WiFi giving it an instant upper-hand against the majority of standard-issue media players out on the market. Media on the go ties right into Microsoft’s convergence theme and with the above items equipped in the Argo could put them on the cutting edge of the media player market.

Microsoft has not confirmed nor have they denied the new media player, but we know one thing the rumored media player has a ton of people excited.

A few images of this new media player form Microsoft have been popping up, but once again Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny anything.

Enverex Heh, just hope it doesn't have as many issues as the iPod had and turn into the "Microsoft Agro Media Player".

I still prefer my PDA though, dedicated players just can't match the formats I want.
  2. RWB
    RWB Looks bogus to me.

Sledgehammer70 Well it all is true according to most sites... I actually am intrested to see what it can do. I use my PSP daily to listen to music surf the web and watch movies during lunch, and maybe a bit fo gaming :) Until a handheld can do more than a PSP can I won't buy anything else. I mean all of the above for under $200 you just can't beat...

lewicron So are they planning to produce software to compete with iTunes, too? If so, I hope they can do a better job than Apple did, I f*cking hate iTunes. I started using it because I heard how easy it was to organise and search through all your music, but as time's gone on i've found it to be the most non-user friendly, unintuitive media player I've used. And now that my music collection's in the clutches of it's library, I just can't be bothered to change to something else.

Sledgehammer70 yeah I think they will tie it into "Urge" which is the new interface within media player 11, Vista & Xbox live.
  7. RWB
RWB I use iTunes, but I am by no means a music lover so my colletion is rather limited. But iTunes does the job well, and since I am forced to use it with Quicktime, might as well use it. Becuase I cannot live without the QT ;)

airbornflght I use winamp, it is so awesome, it allows me to sort and search my music, so awesome, and it doesnt have a crappy music store integrated. I will use napster to download my music, but that is all I use it for, I will not even think of using it as a music manager, I also use allofmp3.

You could just get stand alone quicktime (search for it in google).

So is the argo (supposedly) just like an ipod, or is it more like a pda?
looks more like an ipod :-/ they would be smart to make it a pda, or even like a blackberry or something

Cool man, I found it, that is awsome. Thanks ;) I don't even listen to music anymore so I don't need anything :P

jhenry I'd love to see MS try to make something thast works as good as the iPod and iTunes combo...

    [rant]
People always complain about format problems, but nobody complains that it is too easy to sync your library and your music player, how easy it is to do anything you need in iTunes, how unrestrictive the Fairplay DRM is (unlimited CDs, unlimited iPods, and 5 computers; nobody can come close to that)...

Oh well, people love to bitch about things...

I hope for Microsoft's sake that they make a success out of this. Doing digital media correctly is a long way away from them, lets hope they can make the journey without ten million ******ng bugs in the unusable software.

Sledgehammer70 Did I mention I hate the fact my Ipod can't update my library at home but only on itself... #$%^&* Piece of @^&*. I like the functionality of my IPOD but hate that I can’t transfer song between the 2 Ipods I own!
  13. jhenry
jhenry Have you tried using a third party program rather than itunes for that kind of functionality?
