Parents Sue After Gamer Jumps From Building

BEIJING- Parents of a 13 year-old who threw himself out a 24th-floor apartment window, after playing Warcraft for 36 hours straight, are suing the distributor.

The parents want $12,500 from China Cyber, because they failed to warn of the inherent “dangers” of Warcraft. They say that in America, Warcraft has a ‘T’ rating, where it’s only suitable for children over 13. But they were not made aware of that. China Cyber Port clearly knew that the “violent” and “bloody” content of Warcraft was unsuitable for minors.

And, in fact, no-where in its small print does Blizzard Entertainment, who made the game, mention that throwing yourself out a 24th-floor apartment window could be a side-effect of the game.

RADA I just love it when "good" parents that let THEIR CHILD play video games for 36 hours straight, then blame someone else when THEIR CHILD has a psychotic episode........:wtf::rant:

...we have no responsibility in this matter.... who can we sue? :wtf:
  2. GHoosdum
GHoosdum How could Warcraft possibly lead someone to commit suicide?

WoW, maybe, but good old-fashioned Warcraft?

Thrax The news story meant World of Warcraft.

If someone is flinging themselves out of a building, just for playing a video game, there's something else going on. It's pretty much that simple. The parents either failed to notice that their child was bat**** crazy, or the parents didn't care. It's also pretty much that simple.
  4. RWB
RWB Darwinism if you ask me... though he was only 13. I guess it's not just American parents that are getting lazy as hell.

IndigoRed Hell, If I played WoW for 36 hours straight, I think I'd throw myself out a window too! Couldn't handle more than 2 hours of that game... but that's just me... gimme postal work anyday! At least others will go with me! :grr:
