WoW: trojan found, movie announced

WoW: trojan found, movie announced

Within a day of each other, Symantec announced a trojan making its rounds in the WoW crowd and Blizzard announced its intentions to turn World of Warcraft into a movie.

The trojan steals user account information for the game. Its purpose is essentially gold farming.

Ars Technica speculates on what the quality of the movie will be:

Blizzard is a company that has also shown concern about keeping control over their franchises. The maker of the Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft series once canceled the nearly-complete game Warcraft Adventures because they didn’t feel it lived up to the standards set by the previous games. More recently, they took the license for Starcraft: Ghost away from its original developer, and the game now lies in limbo, awaiting Blizzard’s go-ahead. Now the company has announced that it is working with Legendary Pictures, makers of Batman Begins, to bring World of Warcraft to the big screen.
