XFX overclock’s The 7950GX2 to 570MHz

With Nvidia saying it won’t let its OEM’s OC their newest 7950GX2. Despite that, some of them will come up with the faster cards. Nvidia wanted to be a little more conservative with the first batch of cards but XFX made a deal with the big, green firm.

We are not surprised to learn that XFX decided to go for it, as it bases its whole marketing push on overclocking and delivering faster performance. XFX calls it Play Hard.

    Ya...for about 2 days.

Then you end up RMAing 4 back like I've had to do.

Sledgehammer70 Yeah But you seem to just be having bad luck! I haven’t had any issues with XFX cards, I do acknowledge some are having issues with the 7900GT's, but overall XFX makes Kick butt products.

Garg So are these factory-OC'd cards really selling more units than cards sold with the reference clocks? I mean, we could OC them just as easily once we get them.

I realize that there are people out there that aren't familiar/comfortable with overclocking, but what I'm wondering is if there's enough of those people for XFX to sell more 7950GX2s than their competitors.

Go take a look at the EVGA forums when they come back up and you can tell me how many others are having bad luck to =)

The cards themselves are all made by the same company. Its the heatsinks, stickers, and OC's that are the difference.

Sledgehammer70 I'm talking XFX not EVGA
