Penny Arcade on the value of Valve’s “Orange Box”:

TF2 is worth $60.
Episode 2 is worth $60.

But no, you get BOTH, plus Portal, PLUS extra copies of HL2 and HL2:1 to gift to friends. Why oh why does getting free duplicates turn the whole thing into a bad deal to you people?

The orange box is $50. It's a fantastic deal.

Certainly is to me. I'm well on my way to logging more hours in it than HL2, HL2-1, HL2DM, Doom 3, Alice, and Warcraft 3 combined, which represents every major game I've bought in the last 5 years. It's making a gamer out of me.
24 Sep 2007 ~ 11:15am primesuspect The game doesn't have enough depth to be a sixty dollar purchase. Huge, deep games like Bioshock, Oblivion, etc - those are not even $60.

It is pointless to argue though, because at $30, it is a great deal.

24 Sep 2007 ~ 6:51pm CB When I heard about Portal for the first time, I made the decision to buy it immediately. I was expecting to pay $50 for it. The way I see it, Valve just payed me $5 to take copies of Ep2 and TF2 off their hands. Fine with me. I'm enjoying DMFPS gaming for the first time.
25 Sep 2007 ~ 2:08pm Enverex I'm pissed off with Valve as is. I bought the Christmas Edition which contains a few things, one of them being CounterStrike, right? Wrong. It does everywhere, other than the UK. Valves official response was "Oh well, have fun with the rest of the games". I stretched to buy it in the first place due how they split everything up massively to maximise cash, then get screwed when I decided to spend the money.

Way to reward customers.
