Rail guns are badass

Rail guns are badass

BAE has huge a new railgun that’s one step closer to seeing field use.

broady81 I happen to know quite a few people who work at BAE, including my best friend :rolleyes2 So does ste actually - None of their UK operations are anything like this though, they just repair stuff (e.g. the Nimrod, older than some of Icrontic's members) over here :smiles:

to: bothered, yes, but if they didnt develop weapons, we would be defenceless against attack, i agree that in a `perfect` world there is no fighting and thus no need for weapons, but honny we dont live in a perfect world, and the nimrod is a survalence aircraft, mainly used for Search and rescue. so BAE arnt jsut about weapons

I understand that. I just hope one day we evolve to the point where we stop wasting millions on killing each other. Maybe when more people say stop than don't we can move forward. I'm not criticising anybody, I just really hate the whole military, killing, war thing to the point that at times I despair about the human race. Like I said, what a sad use of brains.
  6. BuddyJ
BuddyJ I want a portable rail gun. It'd be totally sweet to take to the range. Target shooting with a rail gun would be super cool.
  7. primesuspect
primesuspect I don't think a target exists that could stop a hand-held rail..... The "range" would be more of "what can I shoot through the thing" :p

    Trillions, sir. Trillions.

Unfortunately, until peace is profitable this is where we're at.

mas0n You could bag a high speed plane from the ground with a handheld one. We will be fighting against these things in 20 years, we just have to sell them to our enemies first.
  10. ste
ste understandable, yeh i suppose it would be good to evolve to that point.

Ah yes, the beauty of MAD: Force the people of the world to choose between peace and Armageddon, then hope that none of the world leaders are idiots or fanatics.

Your-Amish-Daddy Yeah man. And all these anti-war and anti-weapon liberals always cry to Republicans when they're getting shelled back into the stone age. As soon as we finish a working railgun in the US, the next step will be MY favorite theory; The light driver. MAN that thing is gonna revolutionize war.

I agree and the starkness of your statement left me speechless in contemplation of this dark age of the future. Frag Time :grr:

Take out 'instead of only' and that's where we seem to be. When I was younger I thought there'd be no more wars, that WW2 was supposed to end all that. We have had quite a few since then, just picked on different 'tribes'.
  24. Your-Amish-Daddy
Your-Amish-Daddy Wow. That statement had a lot of buckshot in it. I'll leave it at this; you people live sheltered lives.

    you people live sheltered lives.
That is probably true. I do get confused though when people seem to justify war on the basis that it's just human nature, which may also be true, but that doesn't mean there isn't a better way. I'd like to see a better way tried but as somebody said, there's no profit in peace.

GHoosdum I think anyone who has comfortable enough living conditions to be posting on this forum lives a sheltered life, all things considered.
