   ...but only if said regulators have more that a modicum of knowledge of the PC industry. They might not even realize the outcome by saying yes to such a deal...

   18 Feb 2008 ~ 11:43am primesuspect I don't count "ignorance of the PC industry" as a scapegoat to creating the world's ONLY discreet 3D hardware manufacturer. Regulators would be educated very quickly.

   Yep, check the market share in the video world. Intel owns all. As for you and me, it would seem like a monopoly though.

    19 Feb 2008 ~ 2:51am muddocktor If such a merger would be proposed, the feds would make sure that one vid card division or the other would be sold off before merger approval would be given. I've seen much the same thing happen numerous times in the various mergers that have taken place between companies in the oilfield industry. Believe it or not, they probably have at least 1 or 2 of those government bureaucrats that are actually competent enough to know what's happening.
