With little fanfare, the big kid on the 3D benchmarking block announced their first-ever DirectX 11 benchmark, 3DMark 11.
According to Futuremark, the naming scheme going forward will reflect the version of DirectX that it tests, not a release year. DirectX 11 = 3DMark 11.
3DMark 11 is classic Futuremark style: It is absolutely punishing on even high-end hardware right now, under the “Xtreme” benchmark setting. This ensures that for the next few years, at least, 3DMark 11 will become the de facto standard of 3D benchmarking apps.
3DMark 11 is available in three flavors: Free, Advanced, and Professional. You’ll want the $19.95 Advanced version if you do a lot of system building, overclocking, or e-peen competitions. At $995.00, the Pro version is just for hardware manufacturers and other invested organizations.
It launched today, and is available at the 3DMark website. Get to it!
When you’re done, go to the Icrontic benchmark score discussion and show off your numbers!
