A-DATA releases blazing-fast CF633X flash cards

The new A-DATA CF card packaging

A-DATA Technology has announced the release of a new line of high-speed Compact Flash cards.

Making its debut in 16GB and 32GB varieties, the new line CF633X-branded cards offers transfer speeds A-DATA claims are the fastest in the industry. Utilizing a quad-channel turboMLC access system, the CF633X line is capable of read/write speeds up to 93/92MBps. While those speeds are quite respectable, they still fall short of Pretec’s 667x Compact Flash product, which boasts a maximum transfer speed of 100MBps. Maybe next time, A-DATA.

The CF633X line also contains built-in error checking and correction (ECC) protection to ensure prolonged data integrity. A-DATA has also implemented a system in which the flash card can flag bad flash blocks in order to avoid using them later. In theory, this means that aging CF633X cards may shrink in capacity as blocks go bad, but data should be preserved for transfer to another device.

While no retail launch date has been set, it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll see the cards within the first quarter of the New Year.
