As we reported yesterday, the FCC has begun the auction to own a slice of the airwaves. The results have been rolling in, and Icrontic is here to filter it out for ya.
Ars has a spiffy diagram on their analysis which shows how the various frequencies have been allocated to a “Block.” A block is what the FCC is calling a chunk of the spectrum that was previously a TV channel as described in our explanation of this auction’s importance.
The C and D blocks are the most coveted, as they could be used to deploy a nation-wide wireless network in the United States. Currently, the highest bid on the C-block stands at $1.24bn USD, and yesterday’s lone bid for the D-block comes in at less than a half billion US dollars.
Naturally, {IC} will be there to keep you up to date from start to finish.
