For a while it seemed as though users in the UK were doomed to taking it sideways when it came to Windows 7’s pricing scheme, but recent tweaks to the price of Home Premium has made for a whole new ballgame.
The adjustment has dropped the price of a full edition of Windows 7 Home Premium–not the upgrade–to a mere £65. That’s less than the $119.99/£72 US price of an upgrade, and nearly 50% off the price of the full edition in the states which goes for $199.99/£120.
The sunniest arm of Amazon is already flogging the new, cheaper copies with an even steeper cut down to £63.99. But wait, there’s more! The recent end to the Internet Explorer dispute means Windows 7 Home Premium will ship with a browser, freeing users of the need to perform arcane tricks to hit the information superhighway.
Cnet inquiries with Amazon have revealed that the pricing is “indefinite,” but we’ve been met with the cold shoulder when contacting Microsoft for confirmation.
