AMD celebrates 40th anniversary with contests and giveaways

AMD’s 40th birthday celebration starts tomorrow, May 1st. They are marking the occasion with contests and giveaways. There is a great video on their celebration site that details the origins of the “Sledgehammer” code name for the Opteron chip; take a watch, it’s a good story.

The first contest is a photo contest. They’re inviting everyone to submit a photo showing their love for AMD; 13 winners will receive a processor/motherboard combo. The second contest is a video contest, which asks people to submit creative videos talking about their love for AMD. Three grand prize winners will receive a new Radeon 4890 and 40 runners-up will receive a Radeon 4650.

I've got an old K6 laying around somewhere in one of these spare boxes I have. I've just never been into AMD procs.

And I've got a fried Radeo 9700 Pro, but that was the era before AMD's purchase.

Looks like I'm out of this contest.
