28-year-old Paxton Galvanek came across an auto accident where a male driver had severed two fingers and was bleeding profusely, along with trauma to the head. He was able to stabilize the man until help arrived.
This usually isn’t much of a story but Galvanek has no formal training in emergency care. The only training he’s ever received was for the Medic class in the online game Americas Army, where he learned basic battlefield emergency care.
I remember thinking that Americas Army was a good example of virtual learning for the few days I tried it out, apparently this has been proven correct.
