Antec shrinks Skeleton for mini-ITX

Antec shrinks Skeleton for mini-ITX

Antec’s open-air Skeleton chassis will soon have a little sister primed to receive a mini-ITX system.

The new Mini Skeleton-90 has a 190mm x 210mm x 230mm (LxWxH) footprint and enough room to rock a mini-ITX motherboard, a half-height expansion card, one 5.25″ bay, two 2.5″ bays and two 3.5″ bays. The boys at Antec also include a 90w adapter that can be used to power the system.

Unfortunately the fat farm was an expensive event, and the newer, lighter, smaller version is only $20 less at $119 MSRP.

  1. Snarkasm
Snarkasm Do want, but only half-height? That rules it out for a lot of applications.
  2. BuddyJ
BuddyJ mITX? It makes more sense to have a mATX version first. The benefits offered by a Skeleton-style case are probably least-needed by mITX users.

I hope Antec will refine the Skeleton design and really wow us with a revised case some day that addresses its major shortcomings.
  3. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster It could make a flashy statement as a HTPC case. If your into bold designs.
  4. Garg
Garg I'm with BJ. And the price would be easier to swallow for mATX, too.
  5. MachineDog
MachineDog Who in the world would use this? I imagine anyone going for mITX is using it only for size. The people who want a skeleton chassis probably could use cheaper options anyway, but they should really focus on making the big one cheaper IMO.
