LG Display has announced a new five-year deal to source displays to Apple today. The Korean LCD manufacturer is expected to receive a $500 million advance from Apple later this month, but there’s no word yet on just how lucrative the contract will be.
LG already produces over 70 percent of Apple’s displays, so the deal represents a continued, strategic strengthening of the relationship between the two companies. And if the super-thin displays we saw at CES are any indication of what’s coming to the computer market, we think Apple is in a nice spot with LG.
