AT&T stomps embarassing bug

AT&T Wireless supports mobile Facebook on a great number of its phones, but the marriage has seemed troubled as of late by a severe failure to communicate.

A glitch in communication between Facebook and AT&T has been causing customers to occasionally be logged into the incorrect Facebook account. As a result, users were being given access to the homepages of Facebook profiles which were not their own.

An AT&T spokesman delivered this release to El Reg via e-mail:

“In a limited number of instances, a server software connectivity error resulted in some AT&T wireless customers being logged into the wrong Facebook account when they accessed Facebook through their mobile phones. This error impacted the subscriber identification information used to automatically log-on the Facebook user if a current cookie was not available.”

AT&T says it has corrected the glitch as of today.
