In an era where the browser is rapidly becoming the OS, it only makes sense that full, rich gaming experiences have a place in the browser. Supergiant Games aims to prove it with Bastion now appearing on the Chrome web store.
Supergiant said on Twitter earlier today, “We’re at Google right now. We’ll tell you why later this evening!” And then just moments ago announced their runaway hit Bastion as a Chrome app.
This means you can play Bastion on basically any computer, even a netbook or a smartphone with OpenGL support.
Bastion is an engaging game (read our review of Bastion) that was made by a few passionate people in a small studio (read our interview with the writer). The fact that they are now finding success as pioneers in web-based gaming says a lot about the future of where our games will be played.
According to one Icrontic reader, the game is not entirely free: You are prompted to pay $14.99 to “complete the story”.
