Belgian ISP held responsible for user activity

Belgium’s Court of First Instance has, perhaps, set a precedent in the application of EU copyright laws. With its most recent ruling in a file-sharing case, the Court has decided to hold the ISP responsible for the activities of its users. More particularly, it has charged the ISP with setting up anti-file sharing software, with an eventual fine of over $3,000 per day if the technology is not implemented by the deadline set forth.

Scary stuff.
