Borderlands DLC adds zombies to the desert

feature
Borderlands, the delightfully Steampunk, guns-in-the-desert hybrid of FPS and RPG, has just recieved its first DLC pack for the PC platform. Dubbed “The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned”, this pack adds a macabre zombie outbreak scenario to the game, adding new enemies, environments, and missions.

The addition of a zombie outbreak-type situation in Borderlands is a surprising change of pace from the usual post-apocalyptic wasteland world that we’re used to. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned brings a traditional creepy and disturbing zombie feel to the generally lighthearted game. As you can see from the trailer, however, the DLC still manages to keep the tounge-in-cheek humor of Borderlands in this surprising new world.

From the release:

The Jakobs Corporation would like to invite you to experience the splendor of a corporate owned small town known as Jakobs Cove. Any rumors you may have heard about the “undead” walking our streets are completely preposterous and we officially deny them all. If those rumors turn out to be true simply purchase a firearm from the conveniently located Jakobs Brand Vending Machines and aim for the head. Also, would you mind saving our employees? (Non-union only please)

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned can be purchased for $9.99 on Steam or on Gearbox Software’s online store.

kryyst I think Zombies would almost be a welcome site compared to many of the other nasties you can run into in that game. Not unlike Fallout 3 really. I welcome Zombies in that game.
  2. UPSLynx
UPSLynx I just wish they'd fix the frigging multiplayer connection problem before they worry about DLC :(

I haven't played the game in weeks as a result.
  3. wax
wax how many hours of playtime excitement do you get for $10?
  4. Grimnoc
Grimnoc Well, I'd love to get this...except that Canti, Lynx, and I are always having a ridiculous time getting connected to each other. :(
  5. Winfrey
Winfrey I kinda have mixed feelings about DLC in general. How much has DLC benefited the gamer? DLC is a continuation of development for a game that sometimes adds great content and game-play. Other times it seems like they are milking a cash cow.

Also double huge agree with the multiplay needing to be fixed. In many ways this game is still broken because of that.

doozer If you're having trouble getting a connection going, just go download Gameranger. It's a pretty cool little program, I couldn't explain how it works, but it does and my friends and I have no problem making games.
