Not content to rest on their laurels with today’s release of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, the San Mateo-based Capcom Entertainment has today revealed release dates for four titles currently in production for a spring release: Monster Hunter Tri, Lost Planet 2, Final Fight: Double Impact and Super Street Fighter IV.
Monster Hunter Tri is the third installment to the Monster Hunter franchise, which has enjoyed critical success in Japan. In addition to sporting some of the best graphics the Nintendo Wii is able to produce, the game will feature multiple co-op options, including four-player online co-op and two-player local co-op. Monster Hunter Tri will be landing on an unspecified day in April.
Lost Planet 2, meanwhile, is planned to hit the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on May 18th, 2010. Picking up the story 10 years after its predecessor, Lost Planet 2 continues the action-packed third person shooting on planet E.D.N. III. The campaign will span six episodes and supports co-op of up to four players across Xbox LIVE or the PlayStation Network. As you might expect, the boss battles will still be frigging huge.
Playing the retro gaming card, any gamer who lived in the 16-bit era of side-scrolling beat ’em ups remembers the arcade classic, Final Fight (and how could one forget Roxy and Poison?). Capcom will be re-releasing the original Final Fight, combined with the classic side-scrolling fantasy game Magic Sword, in Final Fight: Double Impact. These trips down arcade memory lane will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network, though an exact launch date has not been set.
Last, but certainly not least, comes the highly anticipated update to Capcom’s legendary fighting series, Super Street Fighter IV. Revitalizing the trend first started with Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter IV will update the SFIV experience with new characters, tweaked gameplay mechanics, new Ultra Combos and additional online modes. Because of the title’s similarities to last year’s Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV will launch with a lower price tag. Super Street Fighter IV will launch on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 27th, 2010, but a PC date has not yet been announced.
