Capcom today rolled out its lineup of blockbuster titles scheduled for release in 2011. Amongst the announcements, Capcom revealed DLC content for a few different titles, as well as some very big sequels to classic Capcom franchises.
Marvel Vs. Capcom: Fate of Two Worlds
The announcement that has shaken the ground of arcades nationwide is the reveal of the long-awaited sequel to the venerable Marvel Vs. Capcom series. Dubbed Marvel Vs. Capcom: Fate of Two Worlds, the game will once again be pitting the greatest names from Marvel comic book and Capcom fighting franchises.
MvC3 will utilize a 2.5D style similar to that of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, which was released on the Nintendo Wii two months ago. MvC3 will take players for a ride on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the spring of next year.
?kamiden
?kamiden is a sequel to the cult-hit Okami, which debuted in 2006 for the PlayStation 2. ?kamiden takes place many years following the events of Okami. Gone is the majestic wolf from the first game, as you now play as Chibiterasu, a young sun god that has been summoned to protect the land.
?kamiden will still employ the drawing system of its predecessor, which suits its new platform perfectly, as the game is slated for release exclusively on the stylus-wielding Nintendo DS in 2011.
Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
The final “top shelf” announcement from today’s roster is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. The sequel to the 2008 retro-flavored remake will put players back into the shoes of Nathan Spencer in an all-new adventure against the technologically-sophisticated foe, General Sabio.
Nathan returns with his trademark grappling gun, in addition to new weapons and abilities, including the much-requested jump move. Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will be available on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live first quarter of 2011.
Other content
Other Capcom titles in development include Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes for the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, as well as Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, an adventure game for the Nintendo DS created by the original director of the Ace Attorney games.
Capcom also announced a hearty helping of DLC, perhaps most notably the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV; the free June 15th update will add a tournament mode that is chock full of online multiplayer options and persistent leaderboards. Other scheduled content includes Dead Rising 2 Prologue, Dead Rising 2 co-op, Lost Planet DLC and MotoGP 2009/2010 DLC.
