Ahh, the time-tested classic tale of red vs. blue. Player 1 vs. Player 2. Tank vs. Tank. Some of you may be old enough to remember Combat! – the pack-in that came with the Atari 2600 VCS. Fast forward 30 years or so and let me lead you to a modern version of this fun diversion.
It’s another gem from the Casual Collective. In Minions, you play against other humans in what is essentially “blow up their base before they blow up ours.” There is definitely some strategy involved; there are a few choices of vehicles you can choose that have a variety of traits such as high defense / low power or high power / slow, etc. You have 20 seconds to assemble your team, and you can see what the other team is picking so you can choose accordingly. Once the game starts, you travel across the map (which is strewn with gun placements and AI bots) to the other team’s base, and blow it up. As you kill stuff, you gain experience which you can use to power up your tank.
Finding other players can be a bit frustrating since the countdown to ‘ready’ resets every time someone leaves or joins, but once you’re in, prepare for a good time.
Thank me later.
