Chaintech announces DDR3-2400

Walton Chaintech (remember them? They made nForce3 motherboards) announced today that it has entered the elite ranks of high-performance memory manufacturers with the introduction of 2x1GB and 2x2GB DDR3-2400 kits.

“Walton Chaintech, one of the world’s most well-known memory and storage device manufacturers, announces the availability of its latest memory clock that can reach a memory speed of 2400MHz,” the company wrote in today’s press release.

“To address consumers’ diversifying high-speed computing platform needs, this new clock is the industry’s fastest computing clock with a transmission bandwidth of 19,200MB/sec per transmission. No more will users be restricted by memory bandwidth when faced with system overclocking, they will be able to maximize their computing systems’ performance and potential.”

Dubbed the APOGEE GT, the new kits use a surprisingly low 1.6V VDIMM and 9/11/10/27 timings to reach the blistering fast 1200MHz frequency. It goes without saying, however, that users interested in running DDR3-2400 must have a Core i5/Core i7 system capable of running a 200MHz BCLK in order for the 12x memory multiplier to push DDR3-2400 speeds.

    Ryder ...

    2400, really?

I can't help but wonder why for.
  3. Tushon
Tushon so why would you sell these kits of tri-channel memory in 2 packs? unless i'm missing the point, which I might be.

Also, lulz @ zuntar. you are so right.

    Thrax FOR OMgOOSES XTREMESYSTEMZZZZ

    (They're DC kits, not tri.)
  5. Tushon
    Tushon then riddle me this:
What is the reason for offering DC sets of DDR3 memory? Is the mobo market lagging in offering tri-channel boards? Feel free to point me to a site where I can edumacate myself.
  6. Serp
Serp Any of the LGA 1156 motherboards use dual channel DDR3 memory as well as AMD motherboards.

Not everyone has jumped on the core i7 wagon yet.

X58 is the only chipset that is Tri Channel. DDR3 has nothing to do with how many channels a CPU/Board can run. DDR3 is just the 3rd generation of DDR memory.

P55, all AMD offerings, X48, X38, P45.. all use Dual Channel.
