Kingston has elected to enter the bustling SSD market by rebadging Intel X25-M drives. The new consumer model will be sold under the SSDNow M Series moniker. Performance is right around 250/70MiBps read/write, which isn’t stellar when considering the drive’s $700-900 price tag.
Details regarding Corsair’s entry are nonexistant, but here’s a picture that has thus far disappeared from every site that has featured it.
*Edit*
Details are now popping up online. The Corsair S128 will be a 2.5″ SSD with 128 GB of storage. According to Hexus, they’ve been told it will use Samsung NAND and a Samsung controller to bypass issues stemming from JMicron controllers. Read and write speeds are expected to be around 90MB/s and 70MB/s, respectively.
Also according to Hexus, two more models will come later this year; one for enthusiasts with reads around 200MB/s, and one for hardcore users with reads around 400MB/s. These models will be tweaked versions of existing performance drives *cough*Intel*cough*.
