Why is this Icrontic news, you ask? Because so many of you who have flown to Detroit to hang out with us over the years have flown into the decrepit old Smith Terminal. You know the one – the “brown” terminal. You may have had vending machine-powered Butterfinger cappuchinos there. It’s where we picked up Dan “Shorty” Pass the first time he came over to ICHQ from England. It’s where the most exciting amenity is the Starbucks that closes at 4pm.
Well, bugger all those fancy, high-ticket-price-paying “McNamara Terminal” dandies, with their railcars and world class shopping, because on Wednesday, Metro Airport opens the North Terminal to replace Smith and Barry. While not as big as McNamara, it is indeed quite as fancy, with a “character all its own” as they describe it.
For those flying in to ICHQ for the Expo Icrontic 2009, breathe a sigh of relief, and go ahead and get that cheaper ticket – you’ll be arriving at a shiny, brand new terminal.
