Stop using icons right now. Seriously, just quit it. Your start menu? Quit that too. The former uglifies your desktop and the latter is slow and unintuitive.
- Get Launchy.
- Teach it to index the file types and folders you access regularly.
- Hit alt+space and type the first two letters of those files or folders.
- Launching Firefox with alt+space, “ff”, enter? Priceless.
Seriously. Your desktop is ugly. I know it is. Make it not ugly. Get Launchy and never look back.
