In 2008, dtp brought us The Dark Eye: Drakensang. This year, we’ll be getting a new game in The Dark Eye universe, The Dark Eye: Drakensang: The River of Time. Continuing the tradition of the first game, The River of Time places the player in control of a widely customizable hero who eventually recruits a party of characters to adventure and fight in a turn-based environment.
The protagonist can be built from among almost 80 race/class combinations with many familiar and unique classes from warriors to wizards, and from pirates to prospecters. The gameplay is turn-based, but the action continues until the player pauses the game to give orders.The quest, party members, and combat options all depend on the player’s choices.
The characters live on a small boat traveling down the great river, completing quests and defeating great evil. The story takes place 23 years before the original game, and explains and intertwines with those events, though playing the first game is not required to understand this prequel.
